Around Taka 3.60cr realized as toll from Jamuna Bridge in last 24 hours

TANGAIL, June 5, 2025 (BSS) – The Jamuna Bridge authorities have collected around Taka 3.60 crore in tolls in the last 24 hours till last midnight, official sources said here today.

“A total of Taka 35,983,000 was collected as from 51,849 different types of vehicles that crossed the Jamuna Bridge in the last 24 hours till 12 midnight on Wednesday, the sources added.

Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, site engineer of the bridge, told the journalists that thousands of home-bound people of North Bengal are going to their near and dear ones to share the joys of Eid-ul-Azha with their relatives through this bridge. 

The pressure of vehicles and home bound passengers is also high on the bridge like previous years but there is no congestion on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna bridge highway. 

He said a total of 51,849 different types of vehicles crossed the bridge of which 30,845 were North Bengal bound and 21,004 were Dhaka bound. The bridge authorities collected Taka 1,84,97,350 from the North Bengal bound transports as toll while Taka 1,74,85,650 from the Dhaka bound vehicles during the time.

The site engineer said that the bridge authorities have set up 18 toll booths on both sides of the bridge vehicles including trucks, passenger buses and private cars to avert traffic congestion on the highways.
 
Four separate booths have been set up for motorcycles. At the same time, they have also kept two wreckers on an emergency arrangement to remove any obstruction from the highway.

Meanwhile, the police have set up a number of close circuit cameras from Alenga to Jamuna Bridge to monitor the road situation round the clock.
