DHAKA, June 6, 2025 (BSS) - Water levels at 65 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 49 stations recorded fall.

Among the 116 monitored river stations, water levels at two stations have remained steady while 18 stations are flowing above the danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.

The Surma River at Kanaighat, the Kushiyara at Amalshid, Sheola and Markuli are flowing 51cm, 77cm, 19cm, and 05 above the danger level respectively.

The water levels of the Surma-Kushiyara rivers in Sylhet and Moulvibazar districts, and the Kushiyara River in Sunamganj district are falling, though currently flowing above the danger level, the FFWC bulletin added.

This decreasing trend may continue over the next 72 hours. During this time, flood conditions in the low-lying areas adjacent to the rivers in Sylhet, Sunamganj, and Moulvibazar districts may continue to improve and could fall below the danger level.

The water level of the Brahmaputra River remains stable, while the water level of the Jamuna River is rising, though both are flowing below the danger level.

"The water level of the Brahmaputra may begin to fall over the next 5 days. Meanwhile, the water level of the Jamuna may remain stable for the next 24 hours and start decreasing during the following 4 days; both rivers are expected to continue flowing below the danger level," the bulletin read.

During the next 24 hours, the rivers may flow near the warning level at Chilmari, Fulchhari, Bahadurabad, Sariakandi, and Jagannathganj stations.

The water levels of the Ganges and Padma rivers are rising and may continue to do so for the next 5 days; however, they are expected to remain below the danger level.
