BAGERHAT, June 13, 2025 (BSS) - A health alert was issued today at Mongla Port to prevent the spread of COVID-19, making sanitization and wearing of masks mandatory for entry into the jetty area.

In addition, arrangements have been made for checking body temperature through thermal scanners. The measures were adopted in line with the recent directive from the Health Ministry to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Confirming the matter to BSS, Port Authority Deputy Director Makruzzaman said the same alert has been issued for the Mongla Port office and for import and export workers, adding, "All preparations have been made for quick treatment at the Mongla Port Hospital in case of COVID-19."

He, however, added that work pressure will increase on foreign ships at the port jetty and at various points of the Pashur River from next Sunday, and that all activities at the port are normal so far.

In case of any difficulty, two mobile numbers have been provided for the port hospital, and people have been asked to contact those numbers immediately to seek healthcare. The same rules apply to the officials and employees working at Mongla Port.
