RANGPUR, June 13, 2025 (BSS) - Jamaat-e-Islami Executive Council Member ATM
Azharul Islam has said that reforms are needed to make the benefits of the
July 2024 revolution sustainable and permanent.
"We want a free, fair and impartial election at a reasonable time through
trial of the killers of students and public during the July-August students-
public pursing and necessary reforms, "he said.
He said this while talking to journalists after attending the 'Shukrana'
(thanksgiving) and views-exchange program jointly organized by the Rangpur
Metropolitan and District units of Jamaat-e-Islami at its office here on
Friday as the chief guest.
Azharul Islam, also former Acting Secretary General of Jamat-e-Islami, said
his party has no objection to the election timing announced by the interim
government's chief adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader, who was recently acquitted of charges of crimes
against humanity, also said all political parties have agreed to this
election timing.
"We were the ones who said that the elections should be held between February
and April. Elections should be held within a reasonable time. It is good for
the nation if the elections are held in a fair manner by April," he said.
He said, "A big revolution has taken place in the country to establish the
opinion of the people. So, reforms and trials of the fascist killers are
needed to make the July 2024 revolution benefits enduring."
Addressing the party leaders and workers, he said, "We will work for the
Islamic movement for the pleasure of Allah Almighty. We will build our lives
as believers in the light of the Quran and Sunnah. Our lives are dedicated to
the path of Allah."
Wishing paradise for Shaheed Abu Sayeed, who lost his life to the fascist
dictator and tyrant, he said, "We, who have sworn to establish the religion
of Allah on the earth of Allah, should give priority to the work of the
hereafter over all worldly work."
He said, "The prison has served as a blessing for the Islamic movement during
the past oppressive regime. The past 15 years have been a difficult test for
the workers of the Islamic movement in real life."
"The extent of damage done to us during this time, Awami League has damaged
itself more than that. Those who have joined the Islamic movement during this
difficult time in the past have come to understand the true Islam," he said.
He said, "Our work has not stopped since 2009, but has increased a lot. This
is the mercy of Allah Almighty. We will devote ourselves to the struggle to
establish the religion of Allah until the last day of our lives, Insha
Allah."
Member of the Central Majlis-e-Shura of Jamaat-e-Islami and its Rangpur
Metropolitan Ameer Vice-principal Moulana ATM Azam Khan presided over the
rally.

Regional Director Moulana Abdul Halim, Central Working Committee Member and
Assistant Rangpur-Dinajpur Region Team Director Moulana Mamtaz Uddin, Central

Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal, Central Majlis-e-Shura Member and Rangpur
District Ameer Professor Muhammad Golam Rabbani, addressed the rally, among
others.
