DHAKA, June 14, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated bodies have been implementing a nationwide tree plantation campaign to mark World Environment Day, following a call by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

In a statement issued earlier, Tarique Rahman emphasized the importance of combating environmental pollution and underscored the commitment to a greener future.

As part of this initiative, various BNP-affiliated student and other organizations have undertaken coordinated plantation efforts across the country.

District units of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) in Cumilla, Bhola and Gaibandha held tree plantation drives on Friday as part of the organization's ongoing 15-day campaign.

In Cumilla, the South District JCD planted trees at several educational institutions in Pasthubi Union under Adarsha Sadar Upazila.

Meanwhile in Bhola, both Sadar and Paurashava units carried out similar activities at local schools, promoting awareness of environmental protection among students.

In Gaibandha, the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Kalyan Front's district unit, led by its Member Secretary and City Swechchhasebak Dal Convenor Bishnu Kumar Das, organized tree plantations at the Paurashava Crematorium, Folia Pulbandi Maha Crematorium and Bridge Road Government Primary School.
