2 testify in narcotics case against Jubo League leaders Samrat, Arman

DHAKA, June 15, 2025 (BSS) - Two prosecution witnesses (PW) today testified 
in a narcotics case against former president of Dhaka south city unit of Jubo 
League Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat and his associate and fellow party 
leader Enamul Haque Arman filed with the city's Ramna Police Station.

Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Musa Miah and businessman Shahadat Alam testified 
as PW-2 and 3, at the court of Dhaka Seventh Additional Metropolitan Sessions 
Judge Mohammad Saifur Rahman Mazumdar. The court after examining the two 
witnesses adjourned the hearing till August 14.

Former Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of RAB-1 Abdul Khaleq, who is also the 
plaintiff of the case, testified as the first prosecution witness on May 7.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat and Arman from a village in 
Cumilla's Chauddagram upazila on October 6, 2019.

On October 7, 2019, RAB filed the case against them under the Arms Act, 1878 
and the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.

RAB on December 9, 2020, filed a charge-sheet in the case.

Dhaka Seventh Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court on January 30, 
2025, framed charges in the case and issued arrest warrants against the two 
fugitive accused.
