DHAKA, Aug 22, 2025 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sent to jail Shachin Moulik, former additional deputy commissioner (ADC–admin) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Ramna Traffic Division, in a case lodged over crimes against humanity allegedly committed during the July Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order as police produced him before the court.

Investigation Officer (IO) Muhammad Alamgir Sarkar of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) probe body pleaded to show him arrested in the case and keep him behind bars.

A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Shachin on August 21 from Mohalchhari in Khagrachhari, where he was serving with the Armed Police Battalion (ApBN).

The IO in his plea stated that ADC Shachin Moulik committed crimes against humanity by using and ordering the use of lethal weapons on protesting students and people at Farmgate’s Babul Tower area, under the foot-over bridge opposite Ananda Cinema Hall, and in Karwan Bazar and adjacent areas on August 4, 2024. The ICT probe body has reportedly found primary evidence against him.
