6 dacoits, including ex-police constable, arrested in Palton dacoity case

DHAKA, August 31, 2025 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested six alleged dacoits, including a sacked police constable, from Khilgaon, Mirpur, and Biman Bandar areas over the last two days. 

The arrested persons, posing as members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police, committed a dacoity at an office in Palton area on August 4.

A team of RAB-3, led by squad commander Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mizanur Rahman, arrested sacked police constable Khairul Rana alias Shimul, 46, from Khilgaon on Friday night. Based on information provided by Khairul, the team arrested five more dacoits from Mirpur and Biman Bandar on Saturday.

The arrested were identified as Abdul Mannan, Shahidur Rahman, Abdullah, Nayon Miah, and Rubel.

RAB sources said the dacoits, posing as DB personnel, raided the business establishment of Md Saidur Rahman in Palton on August 4. The manager and staff were taken hostage, and Taka 45,30,000 was looted.

Businessman Saidur Rahman later filed a dacoity case with Palton Thana in connection with the incident.
