DHAKA, Aug 31, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh navy sailors have 12 fishermen stranded in mid sea onboard their dysfunctional fishing trawler, an ISPR statement said here today.

It said during its routine patrol navy warship BNS Bishkhali RADAR detected the dysfunctional trawler, FB Mayer Doa some 50 nautical miles or 90 kilometers off the southwestern coastlines and approached for its rescue.

The rescued fishermen said they were in the sea for the past two days with dwindled food and drinking water as its engine went out of order.

“The navy personnel instantly rescued the fishermen and provided food, water and primary medical care,” the ISPR said.

According to the statement the trawler was floating near the international maritime boundary’s Western IMBL, 17 nautical miles off the Mongla Fairway buoy, which itself was approximately 62 kilometers north of the coastline.

The warship simultaneously toed the fishing boat to the shoreline.
