9 AL men held for bringing out sudden processions at Tejgaon

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested nine leaders and activists of Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies from different parts of the capital on Friday and Saturday.

The arrestees have been identified Kafrul Thana Chhatra League member Md. Ziaur Rahman, Habibullah Bahar University College Chhatra League member Rubel Hossain, Abdur Rahman,, Ridwan Rafi, Md. Fayim Talukder, Md. Firoz Ahmed (23), Md. Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, ATM Omar Faruk,and Md. Sajib Khan.

DB Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrests today.

DB Tejgaon Division conducted a raid in the Nabisco area under Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station and arrested Ziaur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Abdur Rahman, Ridwan Rafi, Fayim Talukder, Md. Firoz Ahmed and Mehedi Hasan Hridoy on Friday.

On the other hand, the Lalbagh Zonal Team of DB-Lalbagh Division conducted a raid in the Nayabazar area under Kotwali Police Station and arrested Md. Sajib today.

Police arrested ATM Faruk, organizer of the sudden procession held after Jumma prayer on Friday in front of Rahim Metal Mosque under Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station, from Nurjahan Road area under Mohammadpur Police Station today.

They were involved in destabilizing the country by holding sudden processions and destructive activities in different parts of the capital, police alleged.
