DHAKA, Sept 07, 2025 (BSS)- Police arrested Gopalganj Chhatra League General Secretary Amir Hamza with 13 leaders and workers of Awami League (AL) and its affiliated bodies in the last 24 hours from city’s different areas.
Detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested them in different drives in the city, according to DMP media cell.
The arrestees are publicity and publication secretary of Kafrul Thana Mohila AL Nahida Noor Sweety (48), Motijheel Thana unit Chhatra League Vice-President Miraj Sikder (28), AL worker Md Bayezid (45), Uttara West Thana Sramik League leader Mohor Ali (40), Dhaka University Chhatra League former vice-president Sheikh Ibne Sadiq (30), Dhaka South AL former organizing secretary Aminul Islam Biplob (53), Kotwali Thana Ward 35 AL Freedom Fighter Affairs Secretary Nitai Ghosh (65), AL worker Md Shamim Sikder (40), Bangshal Thana Ward 32 Swechchhasebak League General Secretary Imtiaz Uddin Sumit (29), Gopalganj District Chhatra League General Secretary Amir Hamza (28), Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Chhatra League joint convener Md Shakib Kazi (24), Rupnagar Thana Chhatra League joint convener Md Nadim Sheikh (22) and Jubo League worker Md Rezwan Howlader (29).
Police said a DB-Cyber ??operation team conducted a raid in Kafrul area and arrested Nahida Noor Sweety, while another team of DB-Motijheel division arrested Miraj Sikder from Fakirapul area.
A team of DB-Gulshan division conducted a raid at East Kazipara area under Kafrul police station and arrested Md Bayezid, while DB-Uttara Division arrested Mohar Ali from Turag area.
Lalbagh thana police conducted a raid at Katabon area under New Market Police Station and arrested Sheikh Ibn Sadiq, Aminul Islam Biplob. The team arrested Nitai Ghosh from Kotwali area.
A team of DB Lalbagh Division conducted a raid at Daripara area of ??Keraniganj Police Station and arrested Shamim Sikder.
Wari thana police arrested Imtiaz Uddin Sumit from Bangshal area, while Tejgaon Division DB arrested Amir Hamza, Md Shakib Kazi, Md Nadim Sheikh and Md Rezwan Howlader in a series of raids in different places of the city.
Several cases were filed against all the arrested persons in various police stations on specific charges, the DMP statement said.
It said the arrested leader and workers of AL and its affiliated bodies were involved in an attempt to create panic in public by organizing and disrupting law and order. They were also engaged in organizing sudden processions in different places of the capital, it added.
