Court sends 4 banned BCL leaders to jail for staging sudden procession

DHAKA, Sept 7, 2025(BSS) - A court here today sent four leaders of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) including its Gopalgajn district unit general secretary Amir Hamja to jail.

Police earlier arrested Amir Hamja, joint convener of Gopalganj Sadar upazila Sakib Kazi, joint convener of Rupnagar Thana unit Nadim Sheikh and BCL activist Rezwan Halder for bringing out a sudden procession in city’s Tejgaon industrial area.

Tejgaon police produced all the BCL leaders before the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and prayed for confining them into jail till the end of the investigation into the case. After hearing the statement of the prosecution, Metropolitan Magistrate, on behalf of the CMM, ordered to send them to jail.

A group of leaders and activists of Dhaka City North Awami League brought out a sudden procession from Tejgaon Nabisco crossing to Tibet at about 2pm on Friday last. Police later filed a case with Tejgaon Shilpanchal Thana under Anti Terrorism Act.
