Tarique stands by van driver Mostafa’s family

DHAKA, Sept 09, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman has stood by van driver Golam Mostafa Sheikh, who is going through a difficult time due to the critical illness of his wife and a son with disabilities.

Shahina Begum, wife of van driver Golam Mostafa Sheikh from Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat, has been suffering from cancer for a long time, while their only child has been suffering from disabilities since birth. The story was recently aired on a private television channel.

After seeing the news, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who is now in London, decided to stand by the family of van driver Golam Mostafa Sheikh.

As per the directive of Tarique Rahman, a delegation led by ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ convener Atiqur Rahman Rumon visited the house of Mostafa. The delegation inquired about the overall situation of this helpless family and conveyed a message of sympathy from Tarique Rahman to Mostafa.

The delegation included BNP’s Khulna divisional organizing secretary Anindya Islam Amit, ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ advisers Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bakul and Engineer Mostafa-e-Zaman Selim, member secretary Agriculturist Mokchedul Momin Mithun, Jatiya Press Club management committee member Zahidul Islam Rony, and former general secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's BUET unit Engineer Abu Hani.

Fakirhat upazila BNP unit president Kamrul Islam Gora and general secretary Shariful Kalam Karim, among others, were present.

They handed over financial assistance to Mostafa for the treatment of his wife.
