DHAKA, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - BanglaFact, a fact-checking and media research team of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), has identified a video being circulated as the footage of attack on Shamim Hossain, an independent VP candidate in Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) polls, which is actually an old video on different incidents. 

The BanglaFact investigation team found that the claim of an attack on DUCSU VP candidate Shamim Hossain is false and the footage in the video is old. 

Before the start of voting, the team identified that a video of Shamim Hossain with bandages on his knees and hands is being circulated on social media, claiming that Shamim Hossain was attacked.

BanglaFact has verified that no attack on Shamim Hossain took place before the start of voting. In fact, this is old footage on different incidents, it added.
