Ex-MP Faizur sent to jail in attempted murder case

DHAKA, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sent former member of parliament Faizur Rahman Badal to jail in a case filed over an attempted murder in the New Market area during the July Uprising.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehasnul Islam passed the order as police produced him before the court.

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Rahman from the Nikunjo area last night.

According to case details, the accused, along with members of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, attacked protesters of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 19, 2024.

Later, Sajib Uddin filed a case with New Market Police Station on February 4, 2025.
