DHAKA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) - A state-of-the-art e-ticketing platform was launched today to modernise the National Botanical Garden and make the visitor entry process more convenient, transparent, and environment-friendly.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the National Botanical Garden in Mirpur, Dhaka, where Environment, Forest and Climate Change Secretary Dr. Farhina Ahmed opened the platform as the chief guest.
From now on, visitors can easily purchase tickets online through the myGov digital platform, www.nbg.portal.gov.bd, or the Forest Department's official website. The e-tickets will include a QR code that can be scanned directly from a smartphone or printed out for use.
Implemented jointly by the Forest Department and a2i (Aspire to Innovate), this platform marks a major milestone in the digital transformation of garden management in Bangladesh. Visitors can now plan their visits from home, buy tickets online, and enjoy a hassle-free experience without standing in long queues.
The process will not only save time but also ensure complete transparency in ticket sales. By reducing paper use, it will contribute to environmental conservation as well, a ministry press release said.
Speaking at the event, Dr Farhina Ahmed highlighted that this initiative would play an important role in protecting forests and biodiversity and in raising public environmental awareness.
"With the introduction of this e-ticketing platform, a new chapter of smart conservation management has begun in Bangladesh," she said, emphasising the need for expanding similar systems to other environmentally significant sites across the country.
She also hoped that the initiative would strengthen the connection between urban residents and nature.
The secretary noted that the new platform will enhance efficiency in garden management and open new opportunities for research and innovation.
Md. Abdur Rafiq, Project Director (Joint Secretary) of a2i, and Shamima Begum, Joint Secretary (Forest) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, attended the event as special guests, while Md. Amir Hosain Chowdhury, Chief Conservator of Forests, presided over the ceremony.
Officials from the Forest Department, a2i, ICT Division, National Zoo, Bangladesh National Herbarium, along with representatives from various government and non-government organisations, environmental activists, and media professionals were present.
