DHAKA, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today ordered the freezing of 57 bank accounts belonging to former Jute and Textiles Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, his wife Syeda Arjuman Banu, and daughter S Amreen Rakhi.

Judge Shihabul Islam of Dhaka Senior Special Judge Court passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the application submitted by ACC Deputy Director Moniruzzaman, these accounts hold a total of Taka 2.89 crore.

The ACC petition stated that during his tenure as a public servant, Jahangir Kabir Nanak made suspicious and abnormal transactions amounting to Taka 32.18 crore through various bank accounts held in his own name, in the names of his wife and daughter, and in the accounts of his wife's business entity, MS Don Advertising.

"A review of records obtained during the inquiry suggests that the accused attempted to transfer, relocate or misappropriate funds-considered movable assets-from current accounts, savings accounts, FDRs and other accounts held in his own name, in the names of related individuals and entities. Therefore, to ensure a fair and unhindered investigation, the accounts should be frozen immediately," it added.
