DHAKA, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy today said students have played a vital role in every major political change in the country.

"From the Language Movement in 1952 to the Education Movement in 1962 and the Mass Uprising in 1969 -- all these movements succeeded under the leadership of students," he said.

Gayeshwar made the remarks while addressing a discussion titled "The Thoughts of Youth in Shaping the State in Light of the 31-Point Plan for Rebuilding State Infrastructure" hosted by a pro-BNP platform at a club in the city’s Uttara.

Speaking about the current political situation, he said it is crucial to consider what the public wants.

With BNP's Dhaka North Metropolitan member secretary Hazi Mustafa Zaman in the chair, the event was also addressed by joint conveners Mostafizur Rahman Segun, M Kafil Uddin Ahmed, Afaz Uddin Afaz, Dr Md Amirul Islam and Dhaka University Chhatra Dal joint general secretary Abidul Islam Khan.
