Women's rally in Bagerhat stresses information awareness, empowerment

BAGERHAT, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - A women's rally aimed at strengthening information awareness and empowerment was held this afternoon on the premises of Burujbari Government Primary School in Daibajhati, Morelganj here. 

The event was organized by the District Information Office, Bagerhat, as part of its second-quarter program for the October-December period of the 2025-26 fiscal.

Joining virtually as the chief guest, Director General of the Department of Mass Communication Md. Abdul Jalil stressed the importance of women's advancement in digital services, education, health and family awareness. 

He noted that women's development and proper use of information are essential to building a prosperous Bangladesh. He further stated that government initiatives for women's empowerment will achieve greater success through increased information literacy and active participation of women in family, society and the workplace.

Deputy Director of the District Information Office, Muinul Islam, addressed the rally, informing participants about women's rights, social security, prevention of child marriage and available government information services.

District Primary Education Officer Nasreen Akhter, speaking as a special guest, emphasized the role of mothers and guardians in primary education and the importance of ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment for children. The program was chaired by Mizanur Rahman, Headmaster of Burujbari Government Primary School.

Bagerhat Information Officer Saha Chandra Shekhar delivered the welcome address. Local women, teachers, guardians and community members attended the rally.
