BRUR expels three students for ragging

RANGPUR, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) authorities have expelled three students for different periods for their direct and indirect involvement in ragging.

The decision of the BRUR disciplinary committee was announced by Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali at a press conference held after the university's syndicate meeting at 7 pm on Wednesday. 
 
 "We formed an investigation committee on a 24-hour notice and a unanimous decision was taken in the disciplinary committee meeting based on their report,"VC said. 
 
Twelve students of the 16th batch of the Department of Bangla had their direct and indirect involvement in ragging.
 
Of them, Abdullah Al Mamun and Rafi Ahmed, have been expelled for two academic years and Azizul Hakim for one academic year for their involvement in ragging. 


"The remaining nine students including Moniruzzaman, Golam Morshed Tami, Meghnath Roy, Masud Rana, Saidur Rahman Shakil, Sujan Mia, Akram Ali, Fahim Islam and Farad Hossain have been given warning notices and it has been decided to inform their guardians," the Vice-chancellor said.
