DHAKA, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) - Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma today said the ITEC programme reflects India's strong commitment to South-South Cooperation, offering need-based capacity-building support to partner countries, as the High Commission marked ITEC Day 2025 in Dhaka.

Addressing a reception jointly hosted by the High Commission of India and the ITEC Alumni Association of Bangladesh (IAAB), Verma described ITEC as a cornerstone of India's development partnership, rooted in shared growth and mutual benefit. He noted that more than 5,000 Bangladeshi professionals have participated in ITEC courses over the years, said a press release issued by the Indian High Commission here.

The High Commissioner thanked Bangladeshi ITEC alumni for serving as "a bridge of friendship and collaboration" and "a channel for exchange of experience and knowledge" between the two neighbouring countries.

He also commended IAAB for uniting former participants on a single platform and fostering people-to-people ties.

Around 150 Bangladeshi ITEC alumni attended the gathering held at the High Commission premises. Many shared their training experiences in India, underscoring the value of exposure to Indian institutions in areas such as governance, technology and sectoral expertise.

Dignitaries from several partner organisations-including the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC), Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organisation (SPARSO) and Bangladesh Land Port Authority (BLPA)-also joined the event.

Established in 1964, ITEC is India's flagship development cooperation platform offering training slots to over 160 countries.

Each year, more than 12,000 participants take part in over 300 specialised courses in fields such as agriculture, governance, public health, judiciary, election management, ICT, remote sensing, renewable energy, and advanced computing.
