Special prayers held at Dhakeshwari temple for Khaleda Zia's recovery

DHAKA, Dec 5, 2025 (BSS) - A special prayer was held at the historic Dhakeshwari National Temple premises at Chawkbazar area in the capital today seeking the recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. 

The event was jointly organized by Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad and Dhaka Mohanagar Sarbojanin Puja Committee.

Jayanta Kumar Dev, president of the Mohanagar Sarbojanin Puja Committee, presided over the event while the prayer rituals were conducted by Dhakeshwari National Temple priest Tapon Bhattacharya.

Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad President Basudev Dhar, Dhakeshwari National Temple Management Committee President Chittaranjan Majumdar, Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, Vice Chairman of the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Tapon Chandra Majumdar, BNP Assistant Organizing Secretary (Khulna Division)) Jayanta Kumar Kundu and Religious Affairs Assistant Secretary Amlendu Apu Das addressed the event.

Siddheshwari Sarbojanin Puja Committee President Nibas Chandra Majhi and Bangladesh National Hindu Mahajote (faction) General Secretary Dr Mritunjoy Kumar Roy, Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad General Secretary Santosh Sharma, Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Secretary Debendra Nath Urao, Advocate Tapas Kumar Pal and Prof Dr Chandranath Poddar also spoke on the occasion, among others.

Participants sought blessings from Goddess Dhakeshwari for the swift recovery and well-being of Begum Khaleda Zia, highlighting the significance of the current political context and the need for national unity.
