First convocation of BRUR postponed

RANGPUR, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - The authorities of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) have postponed the university's first convocation ceremony.

According to a press release, the decision was taken at a meeting of the convocation committee on Sunday after considering the demands raised by the Begum Rokeya University Alumni Association.

The alumni's demands included extending the registration period, reducing registration fees, and taking into account the overall situation ahead of the upcoming national elections.

The university administration said a new date for the first convocation will be announced later, along with updates on related activities.

Earlier, the university had scheduled the first convocation for January 17, 2026, for graduates from the first to twelfth batches. Registration began on November 21 and was supposed to continue until December 10, 2025.

Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar had been expected to preside over the convocation ceremony.
