DHAKA, Dec 12, 2025 (BSS) - US-based online portal 100shabda.com distributed free first aid kits among rickshaw pullers and public transport workers in the city today.

The first aid kit and hands-on training on use of the rickshaw pullers were giving at a function at Mirpur-14, a pres release said.

The programme, with the slogan “Stand when you see an accident, save lives by giving first aid”, was supervised by Ashiq Islam, senior assistant press secretary to former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and the editor of 100shabda.com, and supported by its publisher Shikder Al Zinnah

Doctors gave the participants hands-on training on how to proceed safely after an accident, manage bleeding and injuries, help with breathing, control crowds, move the injured to a safe place and the correct method of calling emergency services.

Each kit contained bandages, gauze, antiseptic, tape, safety pins, gloves and masks. In addition, stickers with the slogan "Stand if you see an accident, save a life with first aid" were also given to them to put on their transport, so that public awareness is created.

Former president of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Mursalin Nomani handed over the first aid boxes to rickshaw and auto-rickshaw drivers.
Joining virtually from the United States, 100shabda.com editor Ashiq Islam said due to the densely populated environment, busy road traffic and infrastructural realities, numerous accidents occur every day.

The first few minutes after an accident is the most important for saving lives but the lack of timely first aid increases the risk of loss of life or serious injury in many cases, he said.

“Public transport drivers, including rickshaw pullers, remain close to the accident sites and are often the first to come forward. So, arrangements have been made to distribute free first aid equipment and provide training to them with the aim of making them skilled in first aid,” Ashiq said.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Chief Reporter GM Rajib Hossain also spoke on the occasion, among others.

Senior journalists Saidul Islam, Yasir Arafat Ripon, MH Shaikat, Akhtaruzzaman, Dainik 100shabda chief technology officer Md Mashiur Rahman, special correspondent Mahmudul Hasan Rafin, journalists Ridwan and Shapla, bank officer Asaduzzaman and Dr Enayet Hossain were present, among others.
