University authorities postpone today’s JnUCSU election

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - The election of the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JnUCSU) has been postponed temporarily.

The information was disclosed today through a press release signed by Prof Dr. Mostafa Hasan, Chief Election Commissioner of the ‘JnUCSU Election 2025’.

The press release stated that Begum Khaleda Zia, the first female Prime Minister of Bangladesh, an uncompromising leader of democracy and the founder of the Jagannath University, passed away at 6:00 a.m. today. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji‘un. Like the rest of the country, we are deeply saddened by her demise and express our profound condolences to the bereaved family. In this context, the highest authority of Jagannath University and its syndicate, unanimously decided in an emergency meeting this morning to temporarily postpone today’s scheduled Jagannath University Central Students’ Union and Hall Students’ Union Elections 2025.

The release further stated that since the JnUCSU Election Commission is an institution appointed by the Jagannath University Syndicate, it is bound to comply with the Syndicate’s decision. Accordingly, the JnUCSU Election Commission is announcing the temporary postponement of the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union and Hall Students’ Union Elections 2025. The next date of the election will be announced shortly.
