12 candidates withdraw nominations in Ctg, 110 to contest in 16 seats

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 12 candidates from different political parties have withdrawn their nomination papers in 10 of the 16 parliamentary constituencies in Chattogram ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election.

With the withdrawal deadline ending today, January 20, the number of candidates contesting the election in Chattogram now stands at 110 across all 16 constituencies.

Following the withdrawals, the number of candidates contesting in each constituency is as follows: Chattogram-1 has 7 candidates, Chattogram-2 has 7, Chattogram-3 has 4, Chattogram-4 has 9, Chattogram-5 has 6, Chattogram-6 has 4, Chattogram-7 has 6, Chattogram-8 has 7, Chattogram-9 has 10, Chattogram-10 has 9, Chattogram-11 has 10, Chattogram-12 has 7, Chattogram-13 has 6, Chattogram-14 has 8, Chattogram-15 has 3 and Chattogram-16 has 7 candidates.

Earlier, a total of 143 candidates submitted nomination papers in the 16 constituencies of Chattogram. During scrutiny, the nominations of 41 candidates were initially cancelled, though some of them were later reinstated following appeals.
