CUMILLA, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson and chairman of its Election Management Committee Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan on Wednesday said they (NCP) are conducting door-to-door outreach for seeking people’s mandate in the upcoming election.

“We do not believe in intimidation-based politics. We reach people door to door to seek their support and mandate,” he said while addressing a rally as the chief guest in Debidwar upazila of the district as part of the NCP’s nationwide election march.

Addressing the gathering, Asif Mahmud also said that Bangladesh had witnessed widespread lawlessness over the past 17 years, including enforced disappearances, killings, torture, extortion, tender manipulation and corruption.

He alleged that the former government under Sheikh Hasina had oppressed citizens by abusing state power and claimed that a similar atmosphere of fear has re-emerged in recent months, even though the political force responsible is not currently in power.

“The people of Bangladesh have not forgotten the fascist practices of the previous regime. ” he said.

Highlighting the roots of the NCP leadership, Asif Mahmud stated that the party’s leaders did not emerge suddenly but rose from grassroots movements across the country.

The NCP was formed as a political party in line with spirit of July Mass Uprising and “We along the all levels of people of the country had been able to end fascism from the  country.”

Criticizing rival political leaders, he said the NCP does not engage in misleading rhetoric. “We come from the ground level, so we understand the real problems of the people and know how to address them effectively,” he added.

Several other leaders addressed the rally, including Central Election Steering Committee Secretary Monira Sharmin, Cumilla North District Jamaat Secretary Saiful Islam Shahid, Election Steering Committee Chief Coordinator and Youth Power Convener Advocate Tariqul Islam, NCP Joint Member Secretaries Lutfar Rahman and Faisal Mahmud Shanto, and Media Secretary of the Election Steering Committee Yasir Arafat.
