Navy Chief for joint efforts to ensure free, fair JS polls

DHAKA, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) - Chief of Navy Staff of Bangladesh Admiral M Nazmul 
Hassan today called upon all concerned, including the Bangladesh Navy, other 
law enforcement agencies and local administration to work together to ensure 
a free, fair and credible Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls and Referendum-2026, 
slated for February 12 next.

He came up with the call while visiting Char Fasson and Bhola as part of his 
countrywide tour on eve of upcoming 13th JS polls, urging all to provide all-
out support so that people can franchise their voting rights in a festive 
atmosphere without any fear.

The Navy Chief also directed everyone to closely monitor the overall 
situation at the voting centers, maintain law and order and take utmost 
precautions to ensure the safety of voters, said a release of Inter Services 
Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this evening.

During the view-exchange meeting, a special emphasis was given on inter-
institutional coordination and overall security measures to ensure a 
peaceful, impartial and fair conduct of the elections.

The Bangladesh Navy is serving in 24 upazilas and two city corporations in 17 
parliamentary constituencies under the 'In Aid to Civil Power', it added.

Deputy Commissioner (DC), Superintendent of Police (SP), Civil Surgeon, 
Additional Deputy Commissioners and Additional District Magistrates, District 
Election Officers, senior officials of various government departments at the 
district and upazila levels, Fire Service and Civil Defense, BIWTA, 
representatives of different organisations, Upazila Executive Officers, 
officers-in-charge (OC) of police stations and high-ranking officials of RAB, 
Coast Guard, Ansar and Navy, and other individuals concerned were present, 
among others.
