DMP holds security coordination meeting ahead of Int'l Mother Language Day

DHAKA, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today held a high-level coordination meeting to ensure comprehensive security and smooth traffic management marking the upcoming Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day, 2026.

The meeting was held in the conference room of the DMP Headquarters in the afternoon, with DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali in the chair.

The coordination meeting focused on ensuring that people from all walks of life can pay their respects at the Central Shaheed Minar in an orderly and safe environment on February 21.

In his address, the DMP Commissioner emphasized the need for heightened vigilance to prevent any untoward incidents during the observance of the day. 

He instructed all concerned agencies to remain alert and proactive, while intelligence agencies were directed to intensify surveillance and monitoring activities.

At the beginning of the meeting, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented the overall security plan through a powerpoint presentation, outlining operational strategies, deployment plans, and traffic control measures.

Representatives from various intelligence agencies, the Dhaka University, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Department of Health, Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka WASA, Fire Service and other government service organizations attended the meeting.

They shared their opinions and recommendations to ensure that the observance of the great Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day is conducted smoothly and peacefully.

Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md. Sarwar (Additional IG) directed the Intelligence Department to provide advance information and ensure proper traffic management across the capital.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam expressed optimism that the day would be observed peacefully and beautifully if all stakeholders perform their respective duties responsibly.

Among others present at the meeting were Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md. Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Md. Shafiqul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Anisur Rahman, Additional Police Commissioner (Protection and Diplomatic Security) Sana Shaminur Rahman, Additional Police Commissioner (Estate, Development and ICT) Md. Osman Gani along with Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners, officers of various ranks, and representatives of related organizations.

The DMP reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that citizens can observe Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day with due solemnity, security, and discipline.
