Court orders seizure of tax files of ex-minister Abdur Rahman's wife

DHAKA, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the seizure of tax 
files of Dr Mirza Nahida Hossain, wife of senior Awami League leader and 
former fisheries and livestock minister Abdur Rahman.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, 
allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
 
The application stated that Dr Mirza Nahida Hossain and Abdur Rahman 
allegedly abused their power to acquire assets worth Taka 6.30 crore beyond 
their known sources of income and kept those in their possession. They are 
also accused of transferring, converting, and handling illegally obtained 
funds through suspicious transactions amounting to Taka 26.56 crore.
 
It further said that, in order to ensure a proper and fair investigation into 
the case, it is essential to seize and review the income tax records of the 
accused, Dr Mirza Nahida Hossain.
