CHATTOGRAM, Mar 3, 2026 (BSS) - Two terrorists were detained with a large number of firearms after they locked in a shooting with the police in the Chalitalli area of Bayezid Bostami Police Station in the city today.
 
One terrorist was killed, and another was injured in the incident.
 
Two individuals, Mohammad Ishtiaq Hasan Emon (26) and Md. Jasim (35), have been arrested.

Police recovered two foreign pistols, an SMG, a pipe gun, three pistol magazines, 455  live bullets of pistol, 14 shotgun live cartridges, and other local weapons from the scene. 
 
Additional Police Commissioner Wahidul Haque Chowdhury shared this information during a press conference at the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Media Center this afternoon. 
 
The raid took place at a house in Haji Bari in the Chalitali area of Bayezid Bostami Police Station around 3 am today.
 
The Additional Police Commissioner said that the raid was carried out after receiving information that the followers of the notorious terrorist Baro Sazzad were hiding in a house in the Chalitali area. 
 
Upon the police's arrival, gunshots were exchanged between the officers and the suspects inside the house. One terrorist was apprehended with a head injury from a bullet, while another was captured with a significant cache of weapons.
 
Wahidul Haque reported that 880 pieces of Yaba and MDMA drugs were found at the scene, along with two body-worn cameras, a weapon repair kit box, and a motorcycle. 
 
The police are currently investigating the origin of the weapons recovered. The two individuals who were arrested mentioned during their initial questioning that the weapons belonged to members of the Sajjad group. Haque assured city residents that there is no need to panic, as the police are actively patrolling the area around the clock.
