Manikganj, Mar 7, 2026 (BSS) - Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route remained suspended from 7:30 am today due to dense fog, disrupting navigation on the Padma River.
According to sources at the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat, thick fog blanketed the river, reducing visibility and making ferry movement risky.
BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Abdus Salam said ferry operations on the route were halted at 7:30 am as visibility dropped sharply due to heavy fog.
He said six ferries - Shah Paran, Language Martyred Shaheed Barkat, Faridpur, Bir Shrestha Jahangir, Shah Keramat Ali and Golam Maula - are stranded at Paturia Ghat.
Four ferries - Shah Mokdum, Dhaka, Hasna Hena and Bonolota - are waiting at Daulatdia Ghat.
Meanwhile, two ferries - Khan Jahan Ali and Bhaigar - are stranded midstream in the Padma River with vehicles and passengers on board.
The BIWTC official said ferry services will resume once the fog clears and visibility improves.
