DHAKA, March 7, 2026 (BSS) - Chief Coordinator of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, MP, today said all necessary steps will be taken to ensure smooth travel for passengers during the upcoming Eid.

"Any kind of passenger harassment centring the Eid journey will not be tolerated. Extortion and collection of excessive fares in the transport sector will be strictly suppressed," he said.

The lawmaker was addressing a joint meeting of the central committee of Sramik Dal, Dhaka North and South city units and basic trade unions at the organisation's central office in Naya Paltan in the capital this afternoon as the chief guest.

Shimul Biswas said no leader or activist of Sramik Dal will engage in unethical activities and they will not allow others to do so. "If any allegation of unethical activities is found against anyone, immediate organisational action will be taken," he said.

The Sramik Dal leader said recruitment in the country's industries and factories has remained suspended for a long time and called for filling those vacant posts to create employment opportunities.

He said the present democratic government is committed to ensuring recruitment to these posts on the basis of merit.

The meeting also highlighted the progress of ongoing organisational tours aimed at further strengthening Sramik Dal.

Chaired by Sramik Dal President Anwar Hossain and conducted by the organisation's Publicity and Publication Secretary Manjurul Islam Manjur, the meeting was also addressed by Sramik Dal leaders Faez Ahmed, Asaduzzaman Babul, Mofidul Islam Mohan, Delwar Hossain and Nasrin Akter Dina.
