CHATTOGRAM, March 19, 2026 (BSS) - Ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr, law enforcement agencies in Chattagram have taken additional security measures to maintain law and order and ensure safe and smooth travel for people returning home for the festival.

Police surveillance has been increased at important roads and other crowded areas in the city.

Additionally, the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has established special security zones throughout the city to prevent crime and maintain public safety during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays in the port city.

On Thursday, March 19, Chattogram District Superintendent of Police Nazir Ahmed Khan oversaw the police members on duty on various highways and police stations in Chattogram South Division. During the inspection, he visited Patiya, Chandanaish, Satkania, and Lohagara areas to observe traffic activities.

SP Nazir Ahmed Khan stated, "Chattogram District Police is on high alert to ensure smooth and safe travel for people leading up to the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. We are working in a coordinated manner to maintain order on the highways, reduce traffic congestion, and ensure passenger safety. We urge everyone to adhere to traffic laws to ensure a comfortable and safe Eid journey for all."

The inspection was attended by the officer-in-charge of the area, ircle officer, highway police, and other traffic department officials. The police superintendent emphasized the Chattogram District Police's commitment to ensuring safe and smooth travel for the public during Eid-ul-Fitr.

CMP Assistant Commissioner (Public Relations) Aminur Rashid stated that security patrols have been intensified on key roads, intersections, commercial areas, and residential neighborhoods in the city as part of security measures. Both uniformed and plainclothes detective officers are on duty.

Checkpoints have been established at city entrances and strategic locations to search suspicious individuals and vehicles. Continuous monitoring through CCTV cameras has also been increased.

Security has been heightened at banks, ATM booths, shopping malls, and private security personnel in residential areas have been advised to stay vigilant. Aminur Rashid emphasized that the CMP is fully prepared to ensure security during the Eid festivities.

The police force, including intelligence units, will be deployed extensively before, during, and after Eid to safeguard the city.
