Journo Borhan Uddin's father passes away

DHAKA, April 16, 2026 (BSS) - ABM Athar Ali, father of Dhaka Mail Chief Reporter Borhan Uddin, passed away this morning.

He breathed his last at around 8:00 am while undergoing treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital. He was 85.

Athar Ali had long been suffering from various health complications and had been on life support for the last three days.

He is survived by his wife, six sons, two daughters, grandchildren, and a host of relatives, students, admirers and well-wishers.

Athar Ali was a former religious teacher at Subidkhali Rahman Ishaq Pilot Secondary School in Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali district. He also served as a Nikah registrar in the upazila.
