Mirza Fakhrul mourns death of journo Borhan Uddin’s father

DHAKA, April 16, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of ABM Athar Ali, father of Dhaka Mail Chief Reporter Borhan Uddin.

Athar Ali passed away while undergoing treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital this morning at the age of 85.

In a condolence message, Fakhrul prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.

The deceased, Athar Ali, was known as a devoted teacher and a pious as well as kind-hearted person, Fakhrul added.

Athar Ali was a former religious teacher at Subidkhali Rahman Ishaq Pilot Secondary School in Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali district and also served as a nikah registrar of the upazila.
