AG Kazal, SCBA President Khokon, 12 others discharged from police assault case

DHAKA, April 19, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today discharged Attorney General 
Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) 
President Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon and 12 others from a case filed 
over alleged assault on police and obstruction of law enforcement duties.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana passed the order, accepting the 
final report filed by the police in the case.

The others discharged in the case are Advocates Manjurul Alam Sujon, Mahfuz 
Bin-Yousuf, Nure Alam Siddiqui Sohag, Mahdin Chowdhury, Golam Akhtar Zakir, 
Kamrul Hasan Sohag, Kamrul Islam, Moktar Kabir Khan, Ashraf-uz-Zaman Khan, 
Salah Uddin Rigan, Kazi Zainal Abedin, and Mahbubur Rahman Khan.

According to the case documents, police filed the case with Shahbagh Police 
Station on March 16, 2023, for allegedly assaulting the law enforcement 
officials and obstructing them from conducting their duties during the SCBA 
election on March 15.

Police on June 30, 2025, filed the final report.
