DHAKA, April 20, 2026 (BSS) – A one-member probe body has been formed to investigate allegations of irregularities in the distribution of rice among fishermen in Daulatkhan, Bhola.

Patuakhali Fisheries Officer Bijon Kumar Nandi has been appointed to head the probe body, according to a press release.

As fishing has been temporarily suspended for two months in the Meghna River, fishermen in Daulatkhan have become unemployed. To ease their hardship, the government announced a programme allocating 80 kg of rice to each affected fisherman in Hajipur Union.

A recent news report alleged that fishermen were given only 50 kg of rice during the distribution programme in Daulatkhan.

The ministry formed the probe body to investigate the allegation and take necessary steps to uncover the truth, the release said.
