DHAKA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - The Supreme Court (SC) will hold virtual proceedings in both its Appellate and High Court Divisions on Wednesday and Thursday, starting from April 22.

A notification, signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Mohammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee, said the decision was taken considering the current global energy situation, in line with the Information and Communication Technology Use in Courts Act, 2020 (Act No. 11 of 2020), and the practice directions issued by the Supreme Court.

Courts will continue to operate physically on other working days, it added.

The notification further said daily cause lists and virtual meeting IDs for hearings, including those of the Chamber Judge Court, will be published on the Supreme Court website and made available through the respective benches.

The directive will remain in force until further notice.

Earlier, on April 19, the apex court decided to operate virtual courts in its High Court Division for two days a week to save fuel and electricity amid the current global economic situation.
