DB arrests six drug traffickers, recovers large quantities of drugs in the city

DHAKA, April 29, 2026(BSS)- The Detective Branch (DB) of police, in separate
raids over the last two days, arrested six alleged drug traffickers from
different parts of the capital and seized a large quantity of drugs,
including eight Kgs of heroin and 160,000 pieces of Yaba tablets, from their
possession.

A team of the DB Motijheel zone, acting on a tip-off, raided the PWD quarters
at Shaheed Captain Mansur Ali Sarani at around 3:30 pm on Tuesday and
arrested two individuals-Salman and Jahangir Alam. The team seized eight Kgs
of smuggled heroin from their possession during the raid.

Meanwhile, another team from the DB Wari zone arrested one Abul Kalam from
the Kaptan Bazar area in the old city at around 7:00 am today and recovered
160,000 Yaba tablets from his possession.

Besides, another team of DB Ramna zone arrested Md Hassan and Mayuree from in
front of Star Bekary at Kakrail Super Market at about 6.15pm on Tuesday and
seized 559 bottles of Phensidyl syrup along with a microbus.

Police sources said that the arrested persons are the members of drug
syndicates and had been involved in drug trafficking in the capital for a
long time.

Lawful measures were taken against the arrested persons with the respected
police stations.
