
DHAKA, April 29, 2026 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) from the Ramna Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested four active members of a militant organization in separate raids conducted in Kamrangirchar and Keraniganj areas of the capital.
The arrestees were identified as Md. Imran Chowdhury (29), Md. Mostakim Chowdhury (25), Ripon Hossain Sheikh (28) and Abu Bakkar (25).
According to a DMP press release, a specialized team carried out an operation around 3:05 am on Tuesday (April 28) at a residence near Tara Mosque in the Koilaghat area under Kamrangirchar Police Station, where Md. Imran Chowdhury was first apprehended.
Based on his information, his younger brother Md. Mostakim Chowdhury was later arrested from Zianagar area under Keraniganj Police Station.
Following further interrogation and verification, the remaining two suspects-Ripon Hossain Sheikh and Abu Bakkar-were arrested from the Rasulpur area of Kamrangirchar.
During the drives, law enforcement officials recovered a foreign-made pistol, a one-shooter gun, 14 rounds of ammunition, three bullet shells, several smartphones, a DVR, a drone and its components, a multifunctional charger, a metal detector, a laptop, various electronic devices, bags, and books related to extremist ideology.
Police officials said that during preliminary interrogation, the suspects admitted to being active members of a militant group.
Legal proceedings against the detainees are currently underway.
Authorities also stated that intelligence surveillance and special operations will continue to prevent extremism, and sabotage activities.
