DHAKA, Apr 29, 2026 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir today said the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is prioritising maximum use of technology to enhance administrative efficiency, service delivery and law enforcement.

He made the remarks while inaugurating nine technology-driven apps and software systems at a press briefing at the DMP headquarters on Mintoo Road of the capital.

Acting DMP Commissioner Md. Sarwar and Additional Commissioner (DB) Shafiqul Islam, among others, were present.

The newly launched systems include; AI-Based Road Transport Act Violation Detection System, Hotel Boarder Information System, Hello DMP App, DMP Online Training System, DMP Residence Allocation System, DMP Leave Management System, Traffic Duty Distribution Software, DMP Employee Performance Evaluation Software, and DMP Traffic News Archive.

The IGP said the initiative is a significant step toward building a modern, citizen-friendly police force, noting that evolving crime patterns demand continuous technological adaptation.

Officials said the AI-based traffic system will help detect violations at key intersections using advanced cameras, reducing manual enforcement challenges amid limited manpower.

The initiative is expected to increase transparency, efficiency and professionalism within the DMP while making public services more accessible.
