DHAKA, April 29, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman has set an example of maintaining discipline and parliamentary norms during the session of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS).

During the JS sitting today, the Prime Minister took a seat in the third row instead of crossing the floor to take his seat in the first row while a lawmaker was delivering his speech in the House.

At that time, Law Minister Md Asaduzzman was delivering his speech. It is against parliamentary etiquette to walk in front of a member of parliament or cross the floor while he or she is speaking.

Respecting this rule, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stayed seated in the third row until the law minister finished his speech.

As per parliamentary norms, the seat of the Leader of the House and the Prime Minister is in the front row. However, after the Law Minister concluded his speech, the Prime Minister moved to and took his designated seat in the front row.

The Prime Minister's adherence to parliamentary rules and discipline impressed both treasury and opposition benches' lawmakers.

JS Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, who was in the chair at that time, also highly praised the Prime Minister for maintaining discipline in parliament.
