Indian Assistant High Commissioner visits Burimari Land Port

LALMONIRHAT, May 02, 2026 (BSS)-  Indian Assistant High Commissioner to Bangladesh Manoj Kumar visited the Burimari Land Port today to discuss trade facilities and bilateral issues.

Upon his arrival at the port around 1:30 PM, he was welcomed by the officials of land port officials and local trade association leaders.

During his visit, he held meetings with customs and immigration officials, as well as local business leaders, to discuss the current state of cross-border trade and existing challenges.
Manoj Kumar listened to the concerns of traders regarding product restrictions that do not exist at other ports and assured them that these issues would be looked into. 

He also emphasized simplifying the visa process, particularly for businessmen to improve business ties. Local traders highlighted the need to allow more products from India and Bhutan through this port.

As part of the visit, the Assistant High Commissioner visited the zero-point of the border to observe the activities of BGB and BSF. 

Burimari Land Port Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan said the visit allowed the port authority to highlight various operational problems.
