10 more deaths from measles, measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, May 3, 2026 (BSS) - Ten more children have died in the country from measles and measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours till 8am today.

Among them, one case was confirmed as measles, while nine had measles-like symptoms, according to a report of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

It said the number of suspected measles cases was 1,166 in the last 24-hour while the total number of suspected cases reached 40,491 since March 15.

In the last 24 hours, 95 confirmed measles cases were reported. From March 15 until now, the total number of confirmed cases stood at 5,313.

Since March 15, a total of 27,816 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals. During the same period, 24,090 patients recovered and were discharged.

In the past 24 hours, one more person died from confirmed measles, bringing the total confirmed measles deaths to 50.

Additionally, nine people died from suspected measles in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 244.

So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases-18,339-has been reported in the Dhaka Division, of which 3,637 cases have been confirmed as measles.
