12 more die of measles, measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, May 07, 2026 (BSS)- Twelve more patients have died in the country in the last 24 hours due to measles and measles-like symptoms, according to a press release sent from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) here today.

Of them, it said, one had confirmed measles while 11 others had measles-like symptoms. 

It said that the number of suspected measles patients in the last 24 hours is 1,238 and the number of suspected measles patients from March 15 to May 7 is 45,498. The number of confirmed measles patients in the last 24 hours is 286. 

The number of confirmed measles patients from March 15 to May 7 is 6,208. From March 15 to May 7, 31,912 patients have been admitted to hospitals with suspected measles. At the same time, 28,238 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.

One more patient has died of measles in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed measles deaths since March 15 to 57. Eleven patients have died of suspected measles in the last 24 hours, and 279 patients have died of suspected measles since March 15. 

The highest number of suspected measles cases, 20,581, has been reported in Dhaka Division. Of these, 4,177 have been confirmed to have measles.
