DU JCD announces two day prog on Shammo’s death anniversary

DHAKA, May 11, 2026 (BSS)- Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Dhaka University unit has announced two day programme marking the first death anniversary of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a former Dhaka University student and JCD leader on his first death anniversary.

Shammo, served as the literary and publication secretary of the Sir AF Rahman Hall unit of the student wing, was stabbed to death on May 13, 2025 near Suhrawardy Udyan.

A memorial meeting will be held on Wednesday at the Institute of Education and Research (IER) of DU while a dua and Milad mahfil will be arranged at the hall's Jame Mosque after Maghrib prayers on the same day, said a press release.

On the second day, JCD will submit a memorandum to the Attorney General demanding swift justice of the killing.

Shammo was severely injured by a knife attack by miscreants near the open stage of Suhrawardy Udyan in the night on May 13, 2025.

As he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, attending doctor declared him dead. A case was filed in this connection with Shahbagh Police Station.
