16 more die with measles symptoms in 24 hours

DHAKA, May 24, 2026 (BSS)- Sixteen more children died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours while 1,434 patients with measles and measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals during the same period.

The information was disclosed today in a press release issued from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The number of suspected measles cases recorded in the last 24 hours stood at 1,306, while the total number of suspected measles cases from March 15 to May 24 reached to 63,813.

In the last 24-hours, 128 confirmed measles cases were reported, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 8,622 from March 15 to May 24.

Since March 15, a total of 50,558 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country and 46,214 patients were discharged during the same period.

The release said 16 children died with suspected measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 442 between March 15 and May 24. Out of the total death 86 was from confirmed measles, the DGHS said.
