7 more children die with measles symptoms, 1,287 new cases reported

DHAKA, June 7, 2026 (BSS) - Seven more children died with suspected measles symptoms across the country during the last 24 hours while a total of 1,287 new cases were reported during the same period.

According to the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the number of suspected measles cases recorded in last 24 hours stood at 1,221. 

Since March 15, a total of 79,012 suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide.
The DGHS said that 66 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 9,686.

During the period from March 15 to June 7, a total of 64,263 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 60,084 have recovered and been discharged.

No death from confirmed measles was reported in the last 24 hours. However, the cumulative number of deaths among confirmed measles cases has reached 91 since March 15.

The DGHS also reported seven deaths among suspected measles cases during the past 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths among the suspected cases to 529 since March 15.

So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases has been recorded in Dhaka Division, with 36,922 cases. 

Of these, 6,731 have been confirmed as measles.
