DHAKA, June 22, 2026 (BSS) – The government has formed a high-level committee to review claims of retired and prematurely retired officials, who were allegedly deprived of promotions and postings or faced various forms of harassment for political reasons between 2009 and August 4, 2024.

“A five-member committee has been formed to examine the applications of seven retired and prematurely retired officials and submit recommendations accordingly,” according to a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.

Ministry’s Additional Secretary of the Organisation and Management Wing Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque will serve as the convener of the committee, the notification said.

Other members include the Additional Secretary of the Rules Wing of the ministry and each representative from the Cabinet Division, Finance Division, as well as Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division. The representatives must not be below the rank of Joint Secretary.

The committee has been entrusted with scrutinizing the information and documents submitted by the applicants and assessing the validity of allegations relating to deprivation of promotions and postings on political grounds.

However, matters already covered by specific court orders will remain outside the committee's jurisdiction. The committee has also been asked to submit its report to the government within one month, the notification added.

The Senior Appointment-4 Branch of the ministry will provide the necessary administrative and technical support as the committee's secretariat. Committee members will receive honoraria equivalent to those paid to members of the Superior Selection Board for each meeting.

Signed by Additional Secretary of the Appointment, Promotion and Deputation Wing Dr Md Aknur Rahman, the notification said the committee was formed by order of the President and would come into effect immediately.
